The WNBA and their security team have started looking into the Seattle Storm’s coaching staff. This means the league wants to find out if the coaches have done anything wrong. This was reported by a trusted journalist, Khristina Williams.
This new investigation is happening just a few months after a former Storm player, Jewell Loyd, made some serious complaints. She said that the coaches bullied and harassed her. After that, she asked to leave the team and got traded to the Las Vegas Aces. But right now, there’s no proof that her case is connected to this new investigation.
This is actually the second time the Storm’s coaching staff has been investigated in the last year. Back in December 2024, when Jewell Loyd was still with the team, she made her complaint. The Storm looked into it themselves by hiring someone from outside to check if the staff broke any rules. After the investigation, they said no rules were broken and no bullying or harassment was found.
After Jewell left, she was traded to the Las Vegas Aces, and the Storm got the No. 2 draft pick, which they used to get a player named Dominique Malonga.
In February, the team’s head coach Noelle Quinn said the whole situation taught them a lot. She said that she and her staff felt supported by the team during that time, and that the Storm handled things the right way by being open and taking proper action.
It’s still not clear if this new investigation is about something new or somehow related to the earlier one. But interestingly, on the same day this news came out, another player, Li Yueru, who is very tall at 6-foot-7 and was recently traded to Seattle, also asked to leave the team.
