The much-awaited Alice in Borderland season 3 has finally arrived. Fans are already watching closely and wondering if there will be a season 4.
This time the story takes a darker turn. Usagi, played by Tao Tsuchiya, finds herself back in danger when she is kidnapped by a strange scholar who is obsessed with life after death. Arisu, played by Kento Yamazaki, is once again pulled into the twisted world of Borderland. To save Usagi, he must survive more brutal and life-threatening games.
The big question now is whether this is really the end or if there is still more to come. To get some answers, we spoke with director Shinsuke Sato and tried to uncover what the future of the series might look like.
Will there be Alice in Borderland season 4?
There are still no official plans for a season 4, but the way season 3 ends makes it feel like a return to Borderland could definitely happen. The final moments hint that the story may not be completely over yet.
Alice in Borderland has become one of Netflix’s biggest shows in recent years, so fans are naturally hoping that more adventures will unfold in this deadly world. Director Shinsuke Sato seems to share that excitement. When asked if he would take on another season, he admitted that he would love to.
Sato has also shown interest in exploring the spin-off manga Alice in Border Road. This story, written by the original creator Haro Aso, is set in the same twisted Borderland but tells a different tale from Arisu and Usagi’s journey.
The cast is just as eager. Both Tao Tsuchiya and Kento Yamazaki have said they would be happy to return as Usagi and Arisu if the series continues. Fans now wait to see if Netflix will give them that chance.
When could Alice in Borderland season 4 be released?
If Netflix decides to renew it, season 4 of Alice in Borderland probably won’t arrive until 2027. The show has always taken its time between seasons. There was a two year wait between the first two and then almost three years before season 3 finally came out. That makes it clear another season would not be released any time soon.
For now, fans will just have to be patient and keep rewatching season 3 while waiting for news about the future of the series.
What could the plot of Alice in Borderland season 4 be?
In a chat with RadioTimes.com, Tao Tsuchiya shared her own idea for how Arisu and Usagi’s story could continue. She imagined a future where their child somehow ends up trapped in Borderland. To save them, the parents would have to go back into the dangerous world of games.
From the child’s point of view, things would feel confusing and unsettling. They would not understand Borderland at all, but they would notice that their parents seem strangely familiar with it. This could create suspicion and doubt, with questions like, “Who are you really? Why do you know this place so well?”
Tsuchiya explained that the story could then unfold as a journey of trust. As parent and child take on deadly games together, they would start helping each other and rebuild their bond, showing how strong and beautiful family can be.
She also said that if this were just a single movie or one-off show, the focus would stay only on Arisu and Usagi’s survival. But because Alice in Borderland has room to grow across seasons, ideas like this could actually fit into the series. With a smile, she admitted that she hopes producers might be listening and consider making it happen someday.
How many episodes could Alice in Borderland season 4 consist of?
If season 4 does get the green light, it would most likely have six to eight episodes, just like the earlier seasons. That seems to be the sweet spot for the show’s pacing and storytelling.
For now, fans can dive into season 3, which is streaming on Netflix right now.
