Will SUGA have military discharge ceremony?

BTS member SUGA officially completed his mandatory military service on June 21, becoming the final member of the group to do so. Unlike his bandmates who served as active-duty soldiers, SUGA fulfilled his enlistment through alternative service—a route typically assigned to individuals based on medical grounds. This marks the end of a nearly 21-month period during which the rapper carried out duties at designated public facilities instead of serving in the military barracks.

SUGA had been placed in social service following a Military Manpower Administration physical exam where he received a grade 4, reportedly due to his past shoulder injury and surgery. This allowed him to serve in roles such as those at welfare centers, public offices, or community spaces. He had even taken time off from promotions in earlier years due to his health, making this enlistment path a more suitable choice.

With his discharge now complete, SUGA won’t be returning to any further public service work, and it’s expected that no formal discharge ceremony will be held either. His service quietly concludes as he simply ceases reporting to his assigned post. Fans are now looking forward to what comes next, especially as speculation grows around a possible livestream reunion involving all seven BTS members. J-Hope had subtly hinted at such an event during a Killin’ It Girl promotional schedule tied to June 21.

The excitement surrounding SUGA’s return was already building earlier this month when he made a surprise public appearance at J-Hope’s HOPE ON THE STAGE encore concerts on June 13 and 14 in Goyang. Joined by all other BTS members in the audience, SUGA smiled and waved at the 50,000+ fans, marking his first official group appearance since his enlistment in September 2023. This moment was especially poignant, as it also served as his first time being seen with the group since his DUI incident in August 2024, after which he went completely silent.

Now that all members are discharged, BTS is expected to gradually ramp up for a highly anticipated full-group comeback, with 2025 shaping up to be a historic year for the group and their fans.
