James Gunn has finally shared a big update about Robert Pattinson’s version of Batman, and fans have a lot to say. Many people have been waiting for the second movie in the trilogy, and there has been a lot of confusion about whether this film would be part of the main DC Universe or not. It’s now been confirmed that the Batman movies directed by Matt Reeves will not be part of the main DC storyline. Instead, they will be released under something called Elseworlds, which is meant for stories that don’t connect directly with the rest of the DC superhero world.

This decision comes after James Gunn and Peter Safran took charge of DC Studios. A lot of fans were hoping that Pattinson’s Batman would eventually meet and work alongside other superheroes like Superman or Wonder Woman. But with this announcement, it’s clear that it won’t be happening, at least not anytime soon.

Gunn spoke to Entertainment Tonight and said that there are no current plans to make Pattinson’s Batman part of the bigger DC world. He explained that things are still changing and developing behind the scenes, but as of now, they’ve chosen to keep The Batman separate from everything else. Gunn and Safran have their own vision for the future of DC, and they’re currently focused on a new project called The Brave and The Bold, which will show a completely different version of Batman and explore his life as a crime fighter.

Since Pattinson’s Batman doesn’t fit neatly into this bigger storyline, they’ve decided to keep his films outside the main studio projects. This might be disappointing for some fans, but it also means that Matt Reeves has full creative freedom to tell the story he wants, without needing to worry about fitting it into a larger universe.

The good news is that The Batman Part II is moving forward. Director Matt Reeves recently posted on Instagram, showing a picture of himself with the co-writer and the completed script sitting on the table. The Batman logo was clearly visible, giving fans something to be excited about.

The movie is expected to release in theatres in October 2027. So while it won’t be part of the main DC world, fans can still look forward to another dark and gripping story with Robert Pattinson wearing the cape.
