The Packers are a little worried about Josh Jacobs this week. He hurt his knee in the game against the Giants and had to leave early. The good news is that it does not look like a major injury. The bad news is that it still does not promise that he will be ready to play on Sunday against the Vikings.
Right now no one can say for sure if he will play. Coach Matt LaFleur said on Tuesday that Jacobs only has a knee bruise. A bruise usually heals fast and does not always keep a player out, so there is still hope. The main issue is the swelling. LaFleur said they are trying to bring it down and explained that the hard turf made the injury a bit worse. He also said Jacobs might be able to play this week.
On Monday Ian Rapoport from NFL Network said Jacobs is day to day. That makes the situation sound more positive but it still leaves a small chance that he might sit out if he does not feel right.
We should know more once the Packers share their first injury report on Wednesday. If Jacobs practices even a little, that will be a very good sign.
If Jacobs cannot go then Emmanuel Wilson will step in as the starter. Chris Brooks will help him out. Wilson has been the number two running back all season and has the second most carries and rushing yards on the team. He ran the ball well on Sunday when Jacobs left and even scored a touchdown. If Jacobs misses the game Wilson becomes a solid fantasy option for anyone who needs a running back.
