Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs may be known for his star-studded events and larger-than-life persona, but his attempts to bring the British royal family into his world were met with disappointment. Combs was a rapper and businessman who, according to Rob Shuter, a former publicist who worked with him in the early 2000s, was always fascinated with Princes William and Harry. However, despite making multiple efforts to personally invite the royals to his lavish parties, both brothers declined.

Shuter, who worked with Combs from 2002 to 2004, shared that Diddy had asked him to invite the princes to more than ten events during his tenure as a publicist. “He was very keen on getting them to come to his parties,” Shuter said in an interview. “He thought the idea of having royalty in his circles made perfect sense.”

The music mogul, known for his extravagant lifestyle, even offered to take care of the logistics for the princes, including travel, accommodations, and security. However, despite his enthusiasm, both Princes William and Harry turned down the invitations, much to Combs’ dismay.

“Diddy was obsessed with Prince William and Prince Harry. He saw them as a reflection of his own royalty in the entertainment world,” Shuter explained. “He wanted to add them to his entourage, but they were never part of his social circle. It wasn’t his world.”

Interestingly, Shuter revealed that Combs kept framed pictures of the royal brothers in his New York apartment, further highlighting the extent of his admiration. “It wasn’t just about the parties,” Shuter added. “Diddy genuinely looked up to them and would talk about them often.”

Despite the failed attempts to include the princes in his high-profile gatherings, Combs’ fascination with them adds another layer to his complex public persona. With his recent legal troubles, including serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering, Diddy’s royal dreams may now seem like a distant memory, but his attempts to align himself with such high-profile figures have remained part of his story.

As Combs faces a lengthy legal battle, set to go to trial, the public’s attention remains fixated on both his personal and professional life — including his intriguing fascination with the royal family.
