Sharon Stone, renowned for her role in “Basic Instinct,” finds herself embroiled in legal trouble once again, this time facing a lawsuit from Amanda Godepski over an alleged car accident. Godepski filed a motor vehicle complaint in Los Angeles Superior Court in April 2024, seeking $35,000 in compensation for personal injury and property damage purportedly caused by the accident.
According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, the incident occurred on June 30, 2023, at the U.S. Route 101 freeway off-ramp at Coldwater Canyon Avenue in Los Angeles. Godepski alleges that Stone violated traffic regulations, including driving too fast for traffic conditions, making an unsafe turning movement, and executing an unsafe lane change, resulting in damage to her vehicle.
The court filing accuses Stone of negligently operating her vehicle, leading to a collision with Godepski’s vehicle and causing her personal injuries and property damage.
Godepski’s compensation claim extends beyond the repair of her damaged vehicle, encompassing general damages, loss of earning capacity, and medical expenses. Additionally, she seeks recompense for emotional distress, economic loss, and non-economic damage stemming from the incident.
This legal dispute adds to Stone’s history of courtroom battles. In 2012, she faced a lawsuit from her former nanny, alleging labor law violations and discriminatory remarks. Another high-profile legal battle involved a custody dispute with her ex-husband, Phil Bronstein, over their son Roan, which Stone ultimately lost. She attributed her portrayal in “Basic Instinct” to influencing the custody trial’s outcome.
Given her past legal entanglements, speculation arises about whether Stone is culpable in the current lawsuit concerning the car accident. As of now, Stone has not officially addressed the allegations, leaving uncertainties about her innocence.
