In the promo video, Spacey, back in full Frank Underwood mode, exchanges witty banter with Dillon.
The video kicks off with Underwood addressing Dillon in his signature deadpan style, saying, “You podcasters think you’ve inherited the kingdom.” Dillon, clearly caught off guard, responds, “Frank Underwood? I thought you were dead.” Spacey delivers a classic line in response, “I’m as dead as John McCain.” The two go on to have a hilarious back-and-forth, including a bit where Underwood attempts to blackmail Dillon using his DoorDash orders. However, Dillon flips the script, saying, “We don’t have blackmail. We have content,” which only adds to the comedic energy of the promo. The exchange ends with Underwood giving Dillon his endorsement, saying, “You have my endorsement, Mr. Dillon.”
This return to the role of Frank Underwood is noteworthy, considering Spacey was dismissed from House of Cards in 2017 amid sexual misconduct allegations. While Spacey was cleared of the charges in court, his return to the character has been met with a mix of humor and intrigue.
