The start of the 2024 NFL season has been rough for Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis. In Week 1, the Titans blew a 17-0 lead to the Chicago Bears, ultimately losing 24-17 after Levis threw a fourth-quarter pick-six that shifted the game in the Bears’ favor. Week 2 wasn’t much better, as the Titans fell to the New York Jets, again by a score of 24-17, with Levis fumbling at the Jets’ 6-yard line, preventing the team from extending an early lead.
Adding to his on-field struggles, Levis has had to deal with off-field harassment. After his phone number was leaked, the quarterback was bombarded with text messages from frustrated fans criticizing his performance. As a result, Levis was forced to change his phone number to regain some privacy. He expressed disappointment in the situation, noting, “It sucks the world is the way that it is,” but he emphasized that his focus remains on his team and its goals.
Levis, who typically avoids social media, said his main concern is the opinion of his coaches and teammates. Despite the tough start, he remains confident, highlighting the team’s determination to approach every game with the same mindset, regardless of their current record.
Through the first two weeks, Levis has thrown for 319 yards, completing 63.3% of his passes with two touchdowns, three interceptions, and two fumbles. His five turnovers are the most in the NFL so far, with two particularly bad plays. The Week 1 pick-six came from an ill-advised throw to avoid a sack, and in Week 2, Levis tried to flip the ball to a running back instead of taking a sack, leading to a Jets recovery.
Titans head coach Brian Callahan has been blunt about his quarterback’s mistakes, calling them “dumb” and expressing frustration that Levis made the same costly error in two consecutive games.
Levis and the Titans will look for redemption in Week 3 as they face the Green Bay Packers at home, hoping to secure their first win of the season.
