Hollywood saw many romances in 2025, but not all of them lasted. One couple who recently parted ways is filmmaker Tim Burton and Italian actress Monica Bellucci. After nearly two years together, they confirmed their breakup. In a joint statement to AFP, they said they were separating with “respect” and “deep care.” Fans were heartbroken, but sources suggest the split was due to differences in their daily lives rather than any scandal.
Tim Burton and Monica Bellucci kept their romance mostly private. According to sources cited by Catalunya.cat, the breakup stemmed from “irreconcilable differences in daily life.” Tim has a more creative and enigmatic personality, while Monica prefers a traditional, family-focused routine. Despite caring deeply for each other and trying to work through their differences, they couldn’t find a way to align their lifestyles, leading to a cordial separation.
The couple’s love story began in the public eye later in life. They first met at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival but were in other relationships at the time. They reconnected in 2022 when Monica presented Tim with the Lumiere Award. Soon after, photos of them walking hand-in-hand in Madrid sparked rumors, and in 2023, they confirmed their relationship at the Rome Film Festival. Monica once told Elle, “I know the man, I love him, and now I’m going to meet the director — another adventure begins.”
Before Monica, Tim was with Helena Bonham Carter from 2001 to 2014. They never married but share two children, Billy and Nell, and collaborated on films like Sweeney Todd and Alice in Wonderland. Helena described their breakup as “a very painful divorce.” Monica was married to Vincent Cassel from 1999 to 2013, and they share two daughters, Deva and Léonie. Their separation was amicable, with both continuing to co-parent.
Interestingly, even after their split, Tim had recently cast Monica in his upcoming movie, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. Their story may have ended romantically, but their professional collaboration continues.
