Jessie Cave, known for playing Lavender Brown in the Harry Potter films, was recently barred from a fan convention. The reason surprised even her: the organisers excluded her because she has an OnlyFans page. They said it was a “family show” and claimed OnlyFans is linked to porn. Jessie spoke out, saying she felt grossed out and also scared by some of the people on the platform.
The 38-year-old actress joined OnlyFans to post non-sexual, hair-focused content. She made it clear her page was for a niche audience with a hair fetish and did not include sexual material. Jessie explained that she used the platform to get out of debt, fund home renovations, and support her artistic work, including writing and self-love projects. On her Substack, she wrote that she wanted to empower herself and invest in something she had never focused on before, saying her goal was to secure her house, pay off debt, and prove herself to those who had misjudged her.
However, her experience on OnlyFans became uncomfortable over time. She started receiving unwanted explicit messages despite keeping her content non-sexual. People sent her “nasty and lurid” messages, including unsolicited images of male genitalia. She felt pressured to create more sexualised content to keep her subscribers. For example, she once made a video spanking her back with her plaits after a subscriber request, but she eventually lost followers who wanted nudity. While losing them initially hurt, she later saw it as a positive development. Jessie also shared the shame she felt about needing OnlyFans to support herself financially after 18 years in the film industry.
Recently, Jessie faced another unwanted situation because of her OnlyFans presence. Despite her role as a memorable character in Harry Potter, she was not allowed to participate in a fan convention. The organisers didn’t want an OnlyFans creator at a “family show,” even though her content was entirely non-sexual. On her Substack, Jessie called out the hypocrisy, noting that many actors at such conventions have performed sex scenes or appeared nude in films and TV shows, yet she was singled out simply for posting hair-focused content.
