Blake Lively is once again under fire—and no, this time it’s not about her ongoing legal battle with It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni. The Gossip Girl alum found herself in hot water over what was supposed to be a sweet, feel-good moment.
Recently, the 37-year-old actress shared a video on her Instagram Story showing her working behind the counter at a local donut shop in Connecticut. It looked like she was having a good time helping out, but fans were quick to point out something… less than sweet.
In the video, Blake is seen serving donuts without tying her long blonde hair back—or wearing a hair net. At one point, she even leans over a tray of donuts, with her hair dangling dangerously close to the food. Cue the internet outrage.
Social media users, especially on X (formerly known as Twitter), didn’t hold back. One user posted a screenshot from her video and called her out, saying, “#BlakeLively’s hair should be out of the way around food. It’s common sense when in food service. A publicity stunt gone bad if you ask me.”
Others chimed in, calling the whole thing a failed attempt at rebranding her image. “Not sure new branding would help. This isn’t just redo and forget,” one comment read, even bringing up her ongoing legal drama with Baldoni.
Some critics took things further, throwing shade at her career. One harsh tweet read, “She’s not going to be doing much other than baking when her career is done crumbling.” Another added, “lol! She can try as much as she can to wash her image… it won’t work…”
While the backlash was heavy, it’s worth noting that Blake wasn’t randomly moonlighting as a baker. According to her, she was just helping out a friend who owns the donut shop. A simple, kind gesture—but unfortunately, not everyone saw it that way.
