BLACKPINK’s DEADLINE world tour launched with massive fanfare in Goyang, South Korea, on July 5, filling the Goyang Sports Complex Main Stadium with thousands of excited fans. It marked the group’s long-awaited return to the stage as a full unit. However, what was expected to be a joyous and memorable evening quickly turned sour for many, particularly those who had purchased seats in the N3 section of the venue.
Fans in this section were shocked to find their view completely obstructed by a large central LED screen that had been installed as part of the stage setup. Despite paying 132,000 KRW (approximately USD 98) for what was advertised as general admission seating, they were unable to see any portion of the main stage or the performers. In contrast, “restricted view” tickets were sold at a lower price of 99,000 KRW (about USD 73), leading to further frustration among N3 ticket holders who received an even worse viewing experience at a higher cost.
Photos taken from the N3 section began circulating online shortly after the concert, clearly showing the massive screen blocking the stage. These images quickly went viral, fueling outrage and sparking discussions across social media about transparency and fairness in concert ticketing. Many fans felt misled by the event organizers, arguing that the complete lack of visibility should have been disclosed at the time of purchase.
Some attendees have begun preparing formal complaints to the Korea Consumer Agency and the Fair Trade Commission, citing a violation of consumer rights. Under South Korean consumer law, if stage visibility is blocked due to the event’s setup, ticket holders are legally entitled to a full refund and up to 10% additional compensation. There is precedent for such claims, with past rulings in favor of concertgoers who experienced similar obstructions.
So far, neither BLACKPINK’s agency nor the tour’s organizers have commented on the issue. As the tour moves forward and attention grows, many are calling for an official acknowledgment of the problem and a commitment to offer refunds or compensation to affected fans. The incident has cast a shadow over the kickoff of what was meant to be a milestone event in BLACKPINK’s career.
