Who will play Juliet opposite Tom Holland’s Romeo in West End’s latest production?

Tom Holland is set to take on the iconic role of Romeo in Jamie Lloyd’s new West End production of “Romeo and Juliet.” The complete cast for the play, which will be staged at the Duke of York Theatre, has been announced, with Francesca Amewudah-Rivers joining as Juliet. Amewudah-Rivers, recognized for her role in BBC’s “Bad Education,” will make her West End debut alongside Holland.

In addition to Holland and Amewudah-Rivers, the cast includes Freema Agyeman, Joshua-Alexander Williams, Callum Heinrich, Michael Balogun, Tomiwa Edun, Mia Jerome, Daniel Quinn-Toye, Ray Sesay, and Nima Taleghani.

Expressing his excitement about the production, Holland said, “Beyond excited to announce our cast for Romeo and Juliet. I can’t wait to get started, and I know we’ll create something really special together.” Amewudah-Rivers also shared her enthusiasm, stating, “I’m so grateful to be making my West End debut as Juliet with The Jamie Lloyd Company. Francesca Amewudah-Rivers, known for her stage presence in various productions, has worked with prestigious theater companies such as the Globe, Lyric Hammersmith, and Curtis Brown. Her portrayal of Blessing in the BBC TV series “Bad Education” and her acclaimed performance in the play “Family Tree” have garnered her praise from audiences and critics alike.

“Romeo and Juliet” will premiere at the Duke of York Theatre in London on Thursday, May 23rd, with previews beginning on May 11th. The production is scheduled to run until August 2024.
