Latonya Pottain, known for her appearance on Season 11 of TLC’s My 600-lb Life, has died at the age of 40. She passed away on the evening of May 17, 2025, at CHRISTUS Highland Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana, due to natural causes. A preliminary autopsy attributed her death to congestive heart failure.

According to reports, family members had visited Pottain earlier that day and noticed she was ill and struggling to breathe. Later that evening, after experiencing cardiac arrest, she requested emergency help and was rushed to the hospital, where she sadly passed away.

Pottain first gained national attention through My 600-lb Life, which documents the intense journeys of individuals weighing 600 pounds or more as they attempt to lose weight under medical supervision. Despite her efforts, Pottain was unable to lose weight during the show, and her surgeon eventually stopped providing care.

Her death marks a tragic end to her battle with severe health challenges, including prior heart issues, that she bravely faced in the public eye.
