The mysterious death of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas has stunned the internet and left people with more questions than answers. Her decomposed body was discovered inside the trunk of an abandoned Tesla on September 8, 2025, after locals complained about a foul smell. The car was registered to American singer D4vd, which immediately set off speculation about whether there was any connection between the teenager and the rising music star.
Celeste had been missing for more than a year. She was first reported gone in April 2024, when she was just 13 years old. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office said she was last seen in Lake Elsinore, California, about 70 miles from Los Angeles. Her family and police had shared missing flyers with her description. One detail stood out — a tattoo on her right index finger that said “Shh…”. It was this tattoo, along with dental records, that finally confirmed her identity. Tragically, her remains were found just one day after what would have been her 15th birthday. Her family has been devastated by the news, with one relative saying she was only a child and had her whole life ahead of her.
So far, investigators have not determined how or when Celeste died. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner is still waiting on toxicology tests and further autopsy results. For now, police have called it a “death investigation” and not a homicide. Officers explained that without knowing the cause and manner of death, they cannot label it a crime. Legal experts also pointed out that rushing to make an arrest without solid proof could harm the case in court. Recently, police searched a home connected to D4vd and seized electronic devices, but no charges have been filed.
D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, is a 20-year-old singer and songwriter from Queens, New York. He gained fame in 2022 when his track Romantic Homicide went viral on TikTok and later pulled in over 170 million YouTube views. Another of his songs, Here With Me, also became a massive hit with Gen Z listeners. He has been touring across the U.S. and Europe, but after Celeste’s remains were found in his car, his team said he is cooperating with law enforcement and canceled several of his upcoming shows.
One of the biggest questions in the case is whether Celeste and D4vd ever knew each other. Celeste’s mother told TMZ that before she disappeared, her daughter mentioned dating someone named “David.” Adding to the mystery, both Celeste and D4vd share the same “Shh…” tattoo design on their index fingers. While the tattoo is trendy and worn by many celebrities, the similarity has fueled online speculation. So far, police have not confirmed any personal connection between the two, leaving the public waiting for answers as the investigation continues.
