Hunter X-5, also known as Brad Wolfe, in Loki season 2 is portrayed by actor Rafael Casal. Casal’s appearance in Loki showcases a striking transformation, making him initially difficult to recognize due to his long hair and altered demeanor.
Rafael Casal is perhaps best known for his work as a writer and actor in the 2018 film “Blindspotting,” in which he co-starred alongside his real-life friend and collaborator Daveed Diggs. The movie pays homage to their lifelong friendship and serves as a love letter to their hometown of Oakland, California. The success of “Blindspotting” led to the development of a Starz series of the same name, in which Casal took on multiple roles including executive producer, showrunner, co-writer, and director.
Both Casal and Diggs also appeared in the Showtime miniseries “The Good Lord Bird” alongside fellow Marvel actor Ethan Hawke. Additionally, Casal featured in the Emmy Award-winning HBO series “Bad Education” alongside Hugh Jackman, another fellow Marvel alum.
Beyond their acting careers, Casal and Diggs have embarked on joint business ventures, including the co-founding of the BARS workshop at the Public Theater in New York City. This workshop serves as a space for artists to explore and develop their craft at the intersection of contemporary verse and theatre.
In addition to his acting endeavors, Casal is an accomplished rapper. He has released several EPs and singles, including the soundtrack for “Blindspotting,” which also features Diggs. Together, they dropped an EP titled “Collin” in 2018. Casal’s latest single, “Quicksand,” was released in 2021.
Casal’s creative career has deep roots, with early involvement in HBO’s “Def Poetry Jam” from 2004 to 2007, a period during which he was just 18 years old.
