Just four episodes into the new season, Wednesday has already shocked fans with a major twist. The first big villain is out in the open, and it’s someone no one expected.
This season, Wednesday is back doing what she does best, solving dark mysteries. She’s trying to protect her werewolf bestie Enid and figure out who’s behind a string of strange deaths at Nevermore Academy.
Her clues lead her to Willow Hill Psychiatric Facility. That’s where Tyler Galpin, the Hyde from season one, is being held. She starts suspecting a few people, like the head of the facility, Dr. Rachael Fairburn, and even Nevermore’s new music teacher, Isadora Capri.
But it turns out the real danger was right in front of everyone.
Who is the villain in Wednesday season 2?
It’s not the creepy doctor. It’s not the new music teacher. It’s actually the super cheerful assistant from Willow Hill, Judi Spannegel. She’s played by Heather Matarazzo, and yes, she’s been secretly controlling a deadly group of crows the whole time.
Judi, who seemed harmless, is actually the daughter of a twisted ex-science teacher and psychiatrist from Nevermore. Her father used to run horrible experiments on Outcasts to steal their powers. And Judi picked up right where he left off.
In episode four, everything explodes. Wednesday and Uncle Fester find out Judi is using an underground lab to torture Outcasts. They try to free them, but chaos breaks loose. Tyler escapes, kills his old controller, Thornhill, and even throws Wednesday out of a window. The episode ends with her lying there, and we don’t know if she’s okay.
Judi’s reveal also marks a big moment for actress Heather Matarazzo. It’s her first major role in a long time. She’s been very honest about struggling in Hollywood, saying she felt like no one gave her a chance despite all her hard work.
She enters the show all bubbly and sweet, wearing soft sweaters. But by episode four, she’s terrifying. And now fans know, the biggest danger this season wasn’t hiding in the dark. She was smiling right in the open.
