Star attorney Mark Geragos is set to play a key role in defending Sean “Diddy” Combs as his legal team ramps up preparations for his trial. Although Geragos is currently serving as a legal advisor, his daughter, Teny Geragos, is already on the rapper’s defense team. According to Page Six, Combs’s legal team plans to file paperwork that would allow Mark Geragos to officially represent him in court.
Mark Geragos is a well-known figure in the legal world, having represented a number of high-profile clients throughout his career, including Michael Jackson, Chris Brown, Hunter Biden, the Menendez brothers, and Roger Clinton.
Combs is facing multiple serious federal charges, including sexual assault, racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, and transportation for the purpose of prostitution. He has been incarcerated and pleaded not guilty to all of the charges. The defense for the rapper is being led by Marc Agnifilo, one of six attorneys on the case. However, in March, another defense lawyer, Anthony Ricco, quit after a reported dispute with Agnifilo.
It’s not yet clear whether Mark Geragos will replace Ricco or take on a different role within the defense team. Early reports suggest that the defense will focus on challenging the evidence against Combs, particularly the charges related to his alleged “freak offs.” The legal team has argued that there is no evidence suggesting the individuals involved were incapacitated or under the influence of drugs or alcohol, which is a key element for the sex trafficking charges.
Additionally, the defense has raised concerns about the fairness of the case, claiming in court filings that no White person has ever faced prosecution similar to Combs’s, hinting that racial discrimination could be used as part of their argument.
Combs’s trial is scheduled to begin on May 5, and with Mark Geragos’s potential involvement, it’s clear that his defense team is preparing for a high-stakes legal battle.
