Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s ongoing legal drama has taken a new turn, with Lively being granted a modified protective order in her case against her It Ends With Us co-star. According to People magazine, the court has set limits on the scope of the restrictions Lively had requested. Judge Lewis J. Liman ruled on March 13 that certain confidential materials would be protected, allowing them to be designated as “Attorney’s Eyes Only” if their disclosure could potentially cause significant harm to business, financial, or privacy interests.
This decision comes after Lively’s request on March 6 for stronger safeguards to prevent private information from being leaked to the media or circulated within Hollywood. The judge’s written ruling highlighted the risks of sensitive information being spread through industry gossip, underscoring the need for such protections.
The ruling is likely to spark reactions from online observers, many of whom have been following the drama closely and sharing their opinions. In response to the court’s decision, Lively’s spokesperson stated, “Today, the Court rejected the Wayfarer Parties’ objections and entered the protections needed to ensure the free flow of discovery material without any risk of witness intimidation or harm to any individual’s security.” The spokesperson added that Lively would continue gathering more evidence to support her case as part of the discovery process.
On the other side, Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, issued a statement expressing support for the court’s decision to protect private records, including mental health information and personal security details, which they had no interest in accessing. However, he criticized Lively’s request for an overly broad range of documents covering a two-and-a-half-year period, which the court rejected. Freedman emphasized that Baldoni’s team remains focused on obtaining communications that they believe will directly challenge Lively’s accusations.
