Santo August, formerly known as Roc Royal from the boy band Mindless Behavior, embarked on his musical journey with the group in 2008, showcasing his skills as the main rapper. Under the stage name Roc Royal, August honed his singing and dancing abilities alongside his bandmates, culminating in the release of Mindless Behavior’s debut album, “#1 Girl,” in 2011. The group’s rapid rise to fame promised a bright future for all members, but unfortunately, August’s behavior took a detrimental turn, leading to his expulsion from the band in 2014.
In July of that year, August made headlines for assaulting a drug addict over a purported debt, an incident captured on video and widely circulated online. Despite offering a tepid apology, August’s reputation as a troublemaker was solidified when he allegedly stole a vehicle months later. Consequently, Mindless Behavior severed ties with him officially in December 2014.
Transitioning to a solo career under the name Santo August, the rapper released his debut single, “Amazing,” in June 2015, signaling a potential fresh start. However, his newfound path was marred by further legal troubles when he was arrested in 2016 on charges including robbery, battery, and weapon possession. Despite pleading guilty in July 2016 in exchange for a reduced sentence, August remained incarcerated beyond the initially anticipated release date of 2018, suggesting ongoing issues with his conduct.
Throughout his time behind bars, August maintained communication with fans via social media, but this privilege was revoked, leaving his current status and potential release date uncertain. Despite the setbacks, August’s personal life also faced challenges, particularly regarding his role as a father to his two sons, born in 2011 and 2018, respectively.
As of April 2024, there is no definitive information regarding August’s release from prison. The hope remains that he will demonstrate improved behavior and reunite with his family in the near future, but until then, his fate remains uncertain.
