Exciting news for Barbra Streisand fans! A brand-new documentary series about the legendary singer and actress has been announced, providing an intimate look into her iconic life and career. On September 26, Sony Music Entertainment revealed that acclaimed filmmaker Frank Marshall will direct the project, which is being touted as “the definitive multi-part documentary on living legend Barbra Streisand.”
The documentary promises to cover all facets of Streisand’s six-decade career in entertainment, showcasing her evolution as an artist. Produced by Jigsaw Productions and The Kennedy/Marshall Company, with Columbia Records partnering in the effort, it will include in-depth interviews with Streisand herself, alongside never-before-seen footage, photos, and audio recordings.
Streisand expressed her excitement about the project, noting that she has been contemplating how to share the extensive content she’s preserved over the years. Producer Alex Gibney emphasized that a comprehensive documentary on Streisand has been long overdue and is thrilled to be part of it.
This announcement follows Streisand’s memoir, My Name Is Barbra, released last year, which also featured archival footage and memorabilia. Additionally, she contributed a new song, “Love Will Survive,” to the soundtrack of the TV series The Tattooist of Auschwitz, marking her first musical contribution to a TV series.
Fans are eagerly awaiting this documentary, which promises to celebrate the remarkable journey of one of entertainment’s most enduring icons!
