The highly-publicized divorce of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian continues to be a topic of interest, even three years after the split. The latest twist in this ongoing drama involves Kanye’s brief relationship with Julia Fox, his ex-girlfriend, who shared insights into their time together in her memoir, “Down the Drain,” released in October.
Despite Kanye’s recent marriage to Bianca Censori, the aftermath of his divorce from Kim Kardashian has been marked by controversy, including instances of openly antisemitic comments and praise for Hitler in 2022, leading to a loss of support from some fans.
Kanye’s relationship with Julia Fox became public in January 2022, but it was short-lived, lasting less than two months. While the outside perspective may have suggested an amicable split, Fox revealed in an interview with BBC’s Emma Barnett that the relationship had its challenges, prompting her to address the dynamics in her memoir.
In her book, Fox delves into the details, highlighting Kanye’s controlling behavior, such as his approval of her outfits and comments on her body. She even mentioned that he offered to pay for breast enlargement surgery. Speaking to Rolling Stone, Fox expressed her belief that Kanye had weaponized her as a means to retaliate against Kim, stating, “I think it kind of warped into weaponizing me to get back at his ex-wife.”
The memoir also discusses a heated exchange between Kim Kardashian and Kanye, where Kim revealed Fox’s history with drugs, leading to accusations from Kanye that Fox had concealed this information. This incident played a role in the ultimate breakup of their relationship.
Since the brief affair, Julia Fox has openly discussed the experience multiple times, shedding light on the challenging aspects of their connection. She emphasized that the relationship was not sustainable, primarily due to the baggage from their previous serious relationships and the challenges they faced in moving forward. Kanye West, however, has yet to provide detailed commentary on the matter, and it appears unlikely that he will address it in the future.
