YouTube personality and Kick streamer Jack Doherty found himself in hot water after crashing his 2024 McLaren during a live stream on Saturday morning. The incident occurred while he was distracted by his phone during a rainstorm, which led to a terrifying moment for both him and his cameraman, Michael.

The McLaren crash

While streaming to an audience of 185,000 viewers, Doherty lost control of his McLaren after hydroplaning across the right traffic lane, ultimately crashing into a nearby security barrier. The accident, captured live on camera, showcased the dangerous consequences of distracted driving, especially in adverse weather conditions. Following the crash, both Doherty and Michael were taken to the hospital for evaluation, with Michael receiving stitches for a cut on his right temple.

In the aftermath, Doherty’s Kick account was taken down due to violating the platform’s 13th guideline on ‘Lawfulness.’ This guideline emphasizes the importance of following local laws and prioritizing safety while streaming. Kick did not immediately respond to inquiries about the ban.

The aftermath of the crash

Doherty had purchased the McLaren for $202,850.10 just a few months prior and had customized it with a unique Dayglo paintball gun splatter scheme and a custom exhaust system. Sadly, the luxury vehicle was deemed totalled after the crash. As the dust settles, this incident serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of staying focused while driving.

Fans rushed to social media, expressing relief that Doherty was unharmed but also questioning the stunt’s safety. The crash has reignited debates over the risks associated with influencers pushing dangerous content for views and likes.

Following the crash, Doherty stated to his audience, acknowledging that the situation could have been much worse and pledging to be more cautious in future videos. As the dust settles, this incident serves as a reminder of the potential consequences when thrill-seeking goes too far.
