While on the livestream, Marquez received a package from someone who arrived at the door. She cheerfully unwrapped a stuffed animal, jokingly calling it “a little piglet” to her viewers. But moments later, she was found slumped over her desk, with blood pooling in front of her — all while the livestream was still live.
The broadcast ended only after someone else picked up her phone and briefly showed their face to viewers.
Authorities in Jalisco confirmed that Marquez was shot by a male intruder and said they are investigating the case as a femicide—meaning it is believed she was targeted and killed because she was a woman.
