David Henrie, known for his role as Justin Russo on Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place and as Ted Moseby’s son on How I Met Your Mother, has had a varied career and personal life since his time on the hit Disney sitcom.
After the conclusion of Wizards of Waverly Place in 2012, Henrie continued his acting career with supporting roles in various comedy projects, including Grown Ups 2, Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2, and an episode of Arrested Development. He made his directorial debut with the 2020 teen comedy This is the Year, with executive producer Selena Gomez.
In his personal life, Henrie married former Miss Delaware 2011 Maria Cahill on April 21, 2017. The couple experienced three miscarriages before welcoming their first child, Pia Philomena Francesca, on March 19, 2019. They later had two more children, James Thomas Augustine and Gemma Clare.
In 2018, Henrie faced legal trouble when he was arrested at LAX for carrying a loaded gun into the airport. He explained that he had unintentionally brought his legally owned and registered gun and expressed remorse for the incident. Henrie avoided jail time but completed community service and faced a two-year probation period.
As of 2024, Henrie is making a return to his most beloved role in the Disney Channel revival Wizards, where he will produce and star as Justin Russo once again. The show will reunite him with Selena Gomez in the first episode, and the tagline suggests that Justin must embrace his past to ensure the future of the Wizard World. Overall, despite a brief legal incident, Henrie is doing well in both his professional and personal life.
