Benny Blanco is in no rush to correct a flattering case of mistaken identity — especially when it involves being confused with one of the biggest stars on the planet.
Appearing on The Jennifer Hudson Show on April 7, Blanco addressed the viral Oscars moment where the official Academy X account (formerly Twitter) mistakenly identified him as Puerto Rican megastar Bad Bunny. The post featured Blanco and his fiancée, Selena Gomez, at the 2025 Oscars, but credited the music producer as Bad Bunny before quickly being edited. Naturally, fans took screenshots and ran with the mix-up.
When Hudson brought up the incident, Blanco couldn’t help but laugh.
“I like that,” he said with a grin. “What do you mean? He’s so hot! I’ll take it. I’ll take it. What do you mean?”
As the show flashed a photo of Bad Bunny on-screen, Blanco continued,
“Look at how pretty he is, are you kidding? Yeah, I’m Bad Bunny now.”
The light-hearted response drew laughter from the audience — and showcased Blanco’s ability to turn a viral error into a fun, humble moment. Social media echoed his playful tone, with fans joking about an alternate universe where Blanco headlines Un Verano Sin Ti.
This moment of levity comes on the heels of Blanco and Gomez releasing their joint album I Said I Love You First, which dropped on March 21. In a recent Spotify Countdown To special, the couple got candid about their creative process, with Gomez calling Blanco her “personal journal” and Blanco admitting he often sneakily turned her heartfelt words into lyrics.
Their chemistry was also on full display in a Rolling Stone interview where they discussed their December 2024 engagement. While Gomez confessed to mentally planning new wedding ideas “every day,” Blanco joked that they were the kind of couple that prefers to take it one day at a time — with music being their current priority.
With fans still buzzing about both the album and their playful red carpet moments, Benny Blanco being “mistaken” for Bad Bunny just adds another layer of fun to their increasingly public love story.
