Cristiano Ronaldo is on fire! The Portuguese legend scored again, leading Al-Nassr to a solid 2-0 victory over Al-Wehda, bringing them within a point of the top teams in the Saudi Pro League, Al-Ittihad and Al-Hilal.
Ronaldo, who converted a penalty kick, has now netted four goals this season. This win marked Al-Nassr’s third straight victory since the arrival of new head coach Stefano Pioli, who took over from Luis Castro earlier this month. Under Pioli’s leadership, the team seems to have hit their stride, and Ronaldo is at the forefront, demonstrating his leadership on the field.
The match saw Al-Nassr take control early on, with Angelo scoring the opening goal in the 41st minute thanks to a fantastic through ball from Sadio Mane. Although Mane thought he had scored again to make it 3-0, his goal was ruled out due to an offside from Ronaldo in the build-up. Nevertheless, Al-Nassr remained composed throughout the game, especially after Al-Wehda’s Waleed Bakshween was sent off in the 86th minute for dissent, further dimming their chances.
Now with an astonishing 903 career goals, Ronaldo shows that age is just a number, continuing to deliver spectacular performances. Al-Nassr fans have every reason to be excited about the upcoming matches, especially with their title hopes still very much alive.
Al-Wehda, while putting up a good fight, including near misses from Youssef Amyn and Juninho Bacuna, couldn’t find the back of the net on this occasion.
With only one point separating them from league leaders Al-Ittihad, Ronaldo and Al-Nassr are gearing up for their next challenge in the AFC Champions League against Al-Rayyan. With Pioli at the helm and Ronaldo leading the charge, it looks like there’s plenty more action to come!
