Country singer Chris Young faced a nightmarish end to a night out in Nashville, as he was reportedly arrested and placed in the drunk tank, according to the Associated Press.
The incident occurred around 8:30 pm on Monday, Jan. 22, 2024, when Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission agents approached Young at a Nashville bar. The agents checked the ID of a man sitting beside him, confirming the individual’s legal drinking age with a valid ID. After this, the agents intended to leave, but Young allegedly began questioning and recording them on his cell phone. Upon entering another bar, Young and a group of men allegedly followed the agents, and an altercation ensued when Young reportedly attempted to prevent one of the agents from leaving the establishment.
As a result of the physical and verbal confrontation with other patrons, Chris Young was arrested and charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and assault on an officer. It is not clear if anyone sustained injuries during the altercation, but Young displayed signs of intoxication at the time of his arrest.
The Nashville news outlet WKRN.com reported that Young was released early on Tuesday, Jan. 22. Despite media inquiries, Young’s publicist declined to comment on the incident. Putting legal troubles aside, the country singer, known for hits like “Getting You Home” and “Tomorrow,” is gearing up for the release of his next album, “Young Love & Saturday Nights,” scheduled for March 22.
