Nicolas Cage’s son, Weston Cage, has been ordered to undergo two years of mental health treatment instead of serving time in prison. This decision comes after he was accused of physically assaulting his mother, Christina Fulton. The judge overseeing the case in Los Angeles decided that rather than sending Weston to jail, it would be more beneficial for him to focus on improving his mental health.

According to Rolling Stone, Judge Enrique Monguia explained that Weston was going through a mental breakdown when the incident occurred. He stated in court, “Mr. Cage does suffer from an eligible mental health disorder,” and added that this condition played a major role in what happened. “It’s obvious he was suffering a breakdown at the time,” the judge said, indicating that Weston’s actions were not just out of the blue but tied to serious mental health struggles.

Before the official sentencing, Weston’s lawyer mentioned that the actor had already begun getting help and was in a much better place mentally. In fact, Weston is reportedly doing well, planning to get married, and has moved away from the environment he was in before. His legal team emphasized that he’s committed to his recovery and appreciates that the court acknowledged his efforts.

Even Christina Fulton, the victim in this case and Weston’s mother, supported the court’s decision. She attended the hearing and agreed that her son needs help, not prison.

It’s worth noting that back in April 2024, Fulton publicly revealed that Weston had attacked her in a frightening episode that she said nearly cost her her life. The situation was clearly very serious, but now with proper treatment in place, there’s hope that Weston can heal and move forward on a better path.
