Blake Lively made her first major television appearance since filing a lawsuit against It Ends With Us director and co-star Justin Baldoni, appearing on Late Night with Seth Meyers on May 1. The interview coincided with the promotion of her new film Another Simple Favor, the sequel to the 2018 hit A Simple Favor.
Though host Seth Meyers admitted he wasn’t “totally informed” about the legal case, Lively responded with humor and spoke candidly about the emotional toll the past year has taken on her. Without naming Baldoni directly, she said, “It’s been full of the highest highs and the lowest lows of my life,” and emphasized the importance of speaking out against fear that silences many women.
“It’s the women who have had the ability to use their voice that’s kept me strong and helped me in my belief and my fight for the world to be safer for women and girls,” Lively shared.
Lively filed the lawsuit in December 2024, accusing Baldoni and others of sexual harassment and retaliation. Baldoni denies all allegations and has countersued Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and their publicist for USD 400 million, accusing them of civil extortion and defamation. The trial is set to begin in March 2026.
Despite the ongoing legal battle, Lively continues to promote Another Simple Favor, attending premieres and major events, including SNL50 and the TIME100 Gala, where she was named one of TIME’s most influential people of 2025.
