HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter television series continues to take shape, and one familiar face is helping bridge the old and new eras of the Wizarding World. Warwick Davis, who portrayed multiple characters in the original film franchise, is officially returning as Professor Filius Flitwick. In a recent interview with Times Radio, Davis reflected on the experience of stepping back into a role he first played more than two decades ago, describing the process as unusual but ultimately rewarding. The series introduces an entirely new cast for Harry, Ron, and Hermione, while Davis becomes the first actor from the films to reprise the same character for the television adaptation.
Warwick Davis Reflects on Refilming Professor Flitwick at Leavesden Studios
During his Times Radio appearance, Davis explained that revisiting Professor Flitwick felt strange because the production is once again filming at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, the same location where the original movies were shot. He shared that telling the same story naturally leads to familiar moments for the cast, but returning to the exact studios where those scenes were first created added a surreal layer to the experience. Davis acknowledged that being back in Leavesden brought back memories of the films while also reminding him that the series is charting a new creative path.
Despite the similarities in setting and story, Davis made it clear that the HBO series is not simply repeating what audiences have already seen. He emphasized that the television format allows the creative team to explore the narrative with greater depth and detail. According to Davis, the series aims to remain highly faithful to the original Harry Potter books, offering more room for character development and storytelling that the films could not fully accommodate due to time constraints.
