Netflix just dropped some hints about the next film in the Knives Out series, called Wake Up Dead Man. It’s the third movie in the hit murder mystery series created by Rian Johnson, and this time, it’s being hyped as Blanc’s most challenging and dangerous case yet. Naturally, fans are buzzing with excitement to see what kind of twisty, turny drama is coming next.
So far, we’ve seen detective Benoit Blanc (played by Daniel Craig) crack some pretty wild cases, first, the murder of a famous author, and then a strange mystery on a fancy private island. But now, things are about to get even more intense.
As always, the film is bringing in a bunch of big-name stars, the kind of cast that makes you go, “Wait, they’re in it too?!” This time around, we’ll see actors like Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack, and Thomas Haden Church. That’s a seriously stacked lineup.
But here’s the big question everyone’s asking: which one of them is the murderer? And when do we get to see Benoit Blanc again, complete with his signature Southern accent and clever one-liners?

Netflix has officially announced that Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery will hit the streaming platform on Friday, 12th December 2025, which is almost three years after the last movie, Glass Onion, came out.
But here’s what we don’t know yet: will the film also be shown in cinemas before it streams on Netflix?
With Glass Onion, they gave it a short run in theatres a month before it dropped online, and that might happen again. Why? Because both the director, Rian Johnson, and star, Daniel Craig, have openly said they prefer the big screen experience. They love the idea of audiences watching the mystery unfold in a cinema with others.
In fact, when Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos recently called movie theatres an “outdated concept,” Johnson disagreed. In an interview with Business Insider, he said:
“I want this in as many theatres for as long as possible.”
He’s clearly passionate about giving fans the chance to see it the classic way, popcorn, big screen, shared gasps and all.
Whether that actually happens is still up in the air. Netflix hasn’t made anything official yet about a theatrical release. But if they do, we’ll definitely keep an eye out for the dates.
Also, another thing to keep in mind, the movie might have its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival this September, just like the first two Knives Out films did. But again, we’ll have to wait and see when the festival reveals its full lineup.

As expected, our favourite detective Benoit Blanc is back on the case, and this time, he’s diving into a mystery that Netflix is calling his “most dangerous one yet.” So yeah, things are about to get serious.
While Netflix hasn’t given us too many details just yet, they have hinted that this movie will have a darker vibe compared to the last two. So we can probably expect more tension, more drama, and maybe even a few creepy twists.
Other than that, most of the story is still a big secret. But thanks to a sneak-peek photo, we do know that at least part of the film takes place in or around a church, which definitely adds to the eerie, mysterious feel.
For now, everything else is being kept tightly under wraps, but don’t worry, we’re keeping our eyes and ears open for any juicy updates, plot teasers, or setting reveals!

But fair warning: don’t expect it to give away much. The teaser is super mysterious and packed with moody, dramatic shots of graveyards and churches, setting a spooky tone. If you want to figure out what’s really going on, you’ll need detective skills almost as sharp as Benoit Blanc’s.
In the trailer, you hear Blanc say some pretty intense stuff, like:
“The impossible crime. For a man of reason, this is the holy grail.”
Later, he adds:
“This was dressed as a miracle. It’s just a murder. And I solve murders.”
So yeah… the mystery looks deep, dark, and twisty, and Blanc’s ready to crack it wide open.
