Simon Cowell went viral for an awkward yet amusing moment while arriving at The Jennifer Hudson Show. The 65-year-old Britain’s Got Talent judge made his way down the show’s “Spirit Tunnel,” a hallway where staff serenade guests a cappella as they head to the interview couch.
On Monday, September 22, Simon was greeted with a version of The Greatest Show from The Greatest Showman, with lyrics changed just for him. He was filmed clapping along, but his unusual style and the overall awkwardness left the internet in stitches.
Social media users couldn’t stop commenting. One joked, “Ah, yes. My hands. My normal, human hands. We must clap with my normal, human hands. Congratulation.” Another added, “New clap style unlocked,” while someone else said, “In all my life I have never ever seen a man clap like this.” Many called it “the most awkward tunnel walk” they had ever seen.
Despite the reactions, Simon seemed to genuinely enjoy the experience. Before walking on set, he asked, “Can I do that again?” Later, when Jennifer Hudson asked if he enjoyed the Spirit Tunnel, he replied, “I absolutely loved that. When they told me about it, it is seriously the best way of coming onto a show. Seriously, do you mind if I steal it for AGT?”
