Lee Jong Suk returns to television with Law and the City, taking on another legal role after gaining acclaim for performances in Big Mouth and While You Were Sleeping. This time, he plays Ahn Ju Hyeong, a ninth-year associate at the prestigious Kyungmin Law Firm. His character is well-established, logical, and straightforward—someone who enjoys his work, has no ambition to start his own firm, and leads a content, orderly life. However, as the story unfolds, that peace begins to unravel, forcing him to reconsider everything he thought he wanted.
The drama premieres on July 5 on tvN, filling the time slot previously held by Our Unwritten Seoul, which starred Park Bo Young and Park Jin Young. The show will air every weekend at 9 p.m. KST (5:30 p.m. IST), with global streaming in selected regions via Disney+ and JioCinema (Hotstar) in India. Law and the City spans 12 episodes and is directed by Park Seung Woo, reuniting with Lee Jong Suk after their hit W: Two Worlds Apart. The script is penned by Lee Seung Hyun.
The show also stars Moon Ga Young, Kang You Seok, Ryu Hye Young, and Im Seong Jae. Together, they form a tightly-knit group of five skilled lawyers—dubbed “The Associate Attorneys Avengers”—who work at the firm’s Seocho-dong office, the location that inspired the show’s original Korean title.
The story revolves around everyday legal professionals rather than high-stakes crimes or dramatic court battles. Lee Jong Suk shared that he was drawn to the project for its grounded and human storytelling. He felt it offered a refreshing contrast to the intense and morally complex roles he’s taken on in the past. Moon Ga Young echoed this sentiment, praising the drama for focusing on people’s lives rather than legal spectacle.
With its promising cast, emotional depth, and fresh take on the legal genre, Law and the City is already generating buzz as a thoughtful, character-driven drama that explores ambition, workplace dynamics, and personal growth in a law office setting.
