Given Senator Scott’s substantial financial success, he certainly stands out as a desirable catch. While Scott emphasizes on his website that he supports traditional conservative values, including the traditional definition of marriage, he disclosed to Politico that he hasn’t had the opportunity to pursue romantic relationships. He explained, “As a disadvantaged youth, my primary focus was taking care of my mother. Establishing a new family wasn’t a feasible option for me until I had achieved that goal.” With the revelation of a secret girlfriend, it appears that Scott has now reached this point.
Tim Scott holds a deep devotion to his mother. In the speech announcing his presidential bid, he credited his single mother for shaping him into the person he is today. He expressed, “My mom’s work ethic taught me there is dignity in all work. It’s why I know if you are able-bodied, you work! Period,” emphasizing her influence. He further conveyed, “My momma said we could be victims or victors — and she chose victorious.”
Interestingly, Scott seldom discussed having a romantic partner until he declared his presidential candidacy. In May, he casually mentioned, “My girlfriend wants to see me when I come home.” Previously, Scott proudly proclaimed to the National Journal that he was an adult virgin, vowing to remain so until marriage. Consequently, the mention of a girlfriend sparked considerable speculation.
The Washington Post even questioned the existence of Scott’s girlfriend before conceding that it shouldn’t be a matter of concern. Nonetheless, it evidently holds significant importance to Scott. He shared, “I’m dating a lovely Christian girl. One of the things that I love about the gospel of Jesus Christ is that it points us always in the right direction,” highlighting his faith-based values.
In light of Tim Scott’s sudden revelation about a secret girlfriend, political rivals and the press were left somewhat perplexed. However, Scott views it as a non-issue. He remarked, “The fact that half of America’s adult population is single for the first time, to suggest that somehow being married or not married is going to be the determining factor of whether you’re a good president or not — it sounds like we’re living in 1963 and not 2023,” emphasizing the evolving societal norms.
Reflecting on his own upbringing in a single-parent household marked by poverty, Scott understands the pain of family dissolution. He expressed his commitment to ensuring such a situation wouldn’t occur in his own life. He expressed gratitude for the influence of his faith and for the timely intersection of his life with the right person. He concluded with a heartfelt expression of gratitude.
Conversely, Scott accused skeptics, including Sunny Hostin from “The View,” of being motivated by race in their inquiries about his relationship status. He asserted that such individuals seek to suppress his life story because it challenges the narratives of the radical left.
