Wednesday season 2: Fans were waiting to see when Uncle Fester would finally show up this season. He doesn’t appear in the first few episodes, but in episode four, he makes a big entrance. Wednesday needs help with her latest mystery and knows there’s only one person crazy enough to do the job. So, of course, she calls her beloved Uncle Fester.
Fester arrives right away when Wednesday calls him. He’s excited to help his favorite niece, though she’s probably his only niece. Wednesday wants to investigate a strange case connected to a place called Willow Hill psychiatric hospital. She’s been having visions that her friend Enid might die, and she’s convinced that someone named Lois is the key to stopping it. She believes the answers are hidden somewhere deep inside Willow Hill. Fester tells her he has already been inside that hospital before. He says Morticia once asked him to check on her sister Ophelia there years ago. He never found her, but he decided to stick around for a while just to enjoy the shock therapy. Classic Addams behavior.
Fester goes undercover by staying at a small hotel called the Apple Hollow Inn. He causes complete chaos there. He pays with stolen money, makes a mess of his room, and sings old rock songs loudly while sitting in the bathtub. Eventually, he eats a cactus. This gets him committed to Willow Hill, just like he planned.
While inside the hospital, Fester opens up about his past. He actually spent a lot of time in similar places growing up. He doesn’t think of them as scary. For him, they feel like home. While he’s there, he also flirts with the lunch lady, Louise. The two end up hitting it off in their own strange way. Then Fester does something only he would think of. He talks to a parrot and somehow gets it to say a number, five one nine seven one. He figures out that this number is a code connected to Lois.
Later, Fester starts snooping around the lower levels of the hospital. But he gets caught and is thrown into a straitjacket. Just in time, Wednesday and Thing show up to rescue him. They use the code to open a locked room. Inside, they discover something completely unexpected. Lois isn’t a person. It’s actually the name of a secret project, the Long-term Outcast Integration Study. It’s a dark and shady program where experiments were done on outcasts, and many of them went missing years ago.
They find out that a woman named Dr. Judi is in charge of this creepy program. Thanks to Fester, the hospital goes into full chaos and a lot of the patients start breaking free. During all of this, Wednesday finds a mysterious woman locked up. She seems to be Aunt Ophelia, who everyone thought was gone for good.
Before Fester escapes, he finds Louise again. He tells her she was his favorite out of all the women he ever used. The two kiss in the rain like it’s a dramatic movie moment. Then Fester disappears once again, off on another adventure. But let’s be real, he’ll probably be back soon. He always shows up when Wednesday needs him most. And who knows, maybe he’ll even get his own spin-off someday.
