The situation in the Middle East remains tense. But there is still a push to avoid things getting worse.
The British Prime Minister and the Sultan of Oman have both made one thing clear. The truce between Washington and Tehran must continue. This comes even after the latest talks failed.
US Iran talks failure raises fresh concerns
Recent talks between the United States and Iran ended without any agreement. The discussions went on for around 21 hours. But both sides could not find common ground.
The main issue was Iran’s nuclear program. The US wanted Iran to stop any plans related to nuclear weapons. Iran refused to accept those terms.
After the talks failed, tensions increased again. Many experts now fear that the fragile ceasefire could collapse if things are not handled carefully.
UK and Oman push to maintain truce
Despite the setback, the UK is asking both sides to stay calm. Prime Minister Keir Starmer spoke with Oman’s Sultan soon after the talks.
Both leaders agreed that the truce must continue. They said diplomacy is still the only way forward.
Oman has been playing a key role as a mediator. Earlier talks between the US and Iran were also held there. The country has often helped both sides communicate when direct talks were not possible.
The UK believes that even if talks fail, stopping the truce would make things worse.
Middle East tensions remain high
The current ceasefire is already very fragile. It was meant to reduce conflict in the region. But without progress in talks, its future looks uncertain.
The Strait of Hormuz is also a major concern. It is one of the most important oil routes in the world. Any conflict there can impact global markets and fuel prices.
Leaders across countries are now urging patience. They want both sides to return to the table again.
