Uber has unveiled a new feature allowing users to view average wait times and costs for rides in more than 10,000 cities. This addition aims to facilitate better travel planning for customers, particularly as U.S. airports experience record numbers of travelers this summer.

The feature leverages recent historical aggregated data of Uber trips, both on-demand and reserved, within each city. This data provides users with an estimate of the average wait times and prices for specific routes at the time they check. However, users currently cannot adjust settings to see variations in wait times and costs for different times of the day.

To access this tool, users need to open the Uber app, tap on “Where to?” and select “search in a different city.” This new functionality also allows riders to make reservations for upcoming trips, making travel arrangements more convenient.

While the latest update will begin appearing for some users starting Tuesday, Uber stated that the tool would be available to all customers in the coming days. This initiative is part of Uber’s ongoing efforts to enhance user experience and provide more transparency in ride-hailing services.
