Alina Habba, a senior adviser to former President Donald Trump, has launched a significant campaign effort in Michigan, targeting Arab American communities to bolster support for Trump in this critical swing state. Habba, who is also an attorney on Trump’s legal team, is leveraging her own background as a first-generation American with Iraqi heritage to connect with local voters.
Since Thursday, Habba has been actively engaging with the Arab American community in Michigan through a series of events and meetings. Her itinerary has included nearly a dozen events, ranging from community gatherings to discussions with local leaders, with a focus on Arab Americans, including Chaldean Americans and Indian Americans. Metro Detroit, which is home to the largest population of Iraqis outside Iraq, plays a pivotal role in this outreach effort.
During her visit, Habba toured the Chaldean Foundation and engaged with children and families within the community. She emphasized the shared values of freedom and faith that resonate with these communities, stating, “Many of us have roots in countries where we left behind persecution for the freedom that we now cherish.” Habba’s message is clear: preserving American values and ensuring that the freedoms enjoyed in the U.S. are protected is crucial, and she believes Trump is the candidate who best aligns with these priorities.
The Trump campaign’s outreach in Michigan also includes the “Trump 47 Policy Tour,” where Habba is participating alongside figures like Vivek Ramaswamy, Rep. Tim Walberg, and Tudor Dixon. This tour is strategically designed to enhance Trump’s appeal in key battleground states and address the concerns of various voter demographics.
In a statement, Habba highlighted the importance of the Chaldean community, noting its significant presence and influence with its 10 Catholic churches in Metro Detroit. She expressed confidence that Trump’s policies are resonating with independents, moderates, and traditional Republicans, particularly in critical areas like Oakland County.
The latest Fox News Power Rankings list Michigan as a “lean Democrat” state, underscoring the importance of Habba’s efforts to sway undecided voters and strengthen Trump’s position in the upcoming election. Habba’s campaign activities reflect a broader strategy to consolidate support from diverse voter bases and address key issues that resonate with swing state voters.
