Tottenham push for Adam Wharton as Tomas Frank continues major squad rebuild

Tottenham are in full rebuild mode after a disappointing 17th-place finish last season, and new boss Tomas Frank is wasting no time reshaping the squad. The North London club has already brought in attacking reinforcements with the signings of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham and Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest.

But Spurs aren’t done yet. Reports now suggest they’re going all-in to land 21-year-old midfield talent Adam Wharton from Crystal Palace. A bid of around £60 million is said to be on the table, but Palace are holding out for at least £70 million. If the deal goes through, it would be one of the biggest statements of intent from Tottenham this summer.

Wharton is seen as one of England’s most promising midfielders. He made his senior England debut recently and was part of the Euro 2024 squad, a big step for someone who only played 20 league games last season due to injury. Still, in those limited appearances, he showed why he’s so highly rated: calm on the ball, great passing vision, and strong positional awareness. Stats back it up too, he averaged over 7 progressive passes and 4 shot-creating actions per 90 minutes last season.

Frank is a huge admirer of Wharton and wants him to be the anchor of Spurs’ new-look midfield. If he joins, he’ll be part of a young, exciting group that already includes Mikey Moore, Archie Gray, and Lucas Bergvall.

For Crystal Palace, however, losing Wharton would be a big setback, especially with other key players like Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi also attracting interest from top clubs. Palace just won the FA Cup, but this summer could mark the start of major changes at Selhurst Park.

With the new season approaching fast, all eyes are now on whether Spurs can convince Palace to sell and add Wharton to their growing list of summer signings.
