Tom Holland is officially stepping back into the Spider-Man suit for the highly anticipated fourth installment of the franchise, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. In a recent interview with Flip Your Wig, the actor gave fans a taste of what to expect from the film’s production, revealing a return to the franchise’s roots both stylistically and emotionally. With filming expected to take place across real locations in the U.K., including Glasgow, the upcoming Marvel film promises a shift in tone and texture compared to the previous entries.
Holland reflected on how different the experience will be this time around. Instead of relying heavily on studio stages and CGI, Brand New Day will adopt a more grounded, old-school approach to filmmaking. “We shot the entire film on stages,” he said of previous entries. “Now, we’re really gonna lean into that old-school filmmaking and shoot in real locations.” For Holland, this change evokes memories of Spider-Man: Homecoming, his first solo Marvel film. “It’s gonna feel like making Homecoming again. It’s been such a long time since I’ve done it that it’s gonna feel like a breath of fresh air.”
That breath of fresh air could be exactly what the franchise needs following the dramatic conclusion of Spider-Man: No Way Home, which left Peter Parker alone, anonymous, and emotionally isolated. With everyone’s memories of him wiped clean, Brand New Day is expected to explore the personal toll of that loss while building a new identity for Spider-Man within the MCU. Though the plot remains tightly under wraps, the emotional weight of reclaiming lost connections—particularly with Zendaya’s MJ—and facing new adversaries is expected to be central.
Destin Daniel Cretton, known for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, will helm the film. His style—action-packed with strong character development—could provide the perfect balance for Holland’s next chapter as Peter Parker. Joining Holland are returning cast members Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, and Jon Bernthal, suggesting that the movie may also tie into broader Marvel narratives.
The choice to shoot in Glasgow, a location previously used in Marvel projects like Avengers: Infinity War and other blockbuster action films, further confirms that the production is aiming for a gritty, cinematic quality. With its cobblestone streets and gothic architecture, the city could provide the perfect backdrop for Spider-Man’s next battles and inner transformation.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to hit theaters on July 31, 2026, and if Holland’s excitement is any indication, fans are in for something both nostalgic and refreshingly new.
