Spider-Man: Brand New Day is quickly shaping up to be one of Marvel’s most anticipated projects. The film not only marks the return of Tom Holland as the beloved web-slinger but also brings back a major Avenger. Just hours after the teaser dropped, reports confirmed that Mark Ruffalo will reprise his role as Bruce Banner, a.k.a. Hulk, in the upcoming installment.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ruffalo’s involvement is expected to be more than just a cameo. While the details of his storyline remain under wraps, his appearance signals a potentially bigger role for Hulk within the evolving Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

The film will be helmed by Destin Daniel Cretton and introduces a star-studded cast alongside Holland. Sadie Sink and Jon Bernthal have joined the lineup, with Bernthal stepping back into his gritty role as the Punisher. Zendaya will return as MJ, and Jacob Batalon will once again play Peter Parker’s best friend, Ned. In the teaser, Holland is seen donning a sleek new Spider-Man suit and can be heard asking, “We’re ready?”—a line that has already sparked buzz among fans.

Ruffalo last appeared as Hulk in Marvel’s Disney+ series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, where he guided his cousin Jennifer Walters through her transformation. The series also revealed a surprising twist—Banner is now a father to Skaar, setting up fresh possibilities for his future in the MCU.

Fans had previously speculated about his possible appearance in Captain America: Brave New World as Red Hulk, but that role ultimately went to Harrison Ford. Now, his addition to Spider-Man: Brand New Day will mark Ruffalo’s 10th mainline MCU project and may serve as a bridge to Avengers: Doomsday, which is already confirmed to bring back several Marvel veterans.

With its blend of returning favorites and intriguing new characters, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is positioned to be a pivotal chapter in Marvel’s Phase 6. The film swings into theaters on July 31, 2026.
