Tom Hiddleston found himself caught off guard when his ex, Taylor Swift, was suddenly mentioned during a recent radio appearance. The actor, who is currently promoting his new film The Life of Chuck alongside co-star Karen Gillan, stopped by UK radio station Heart for a chat when the pop star’s name popped up.
While discussing how he spends his free evenings, Hiddleston said he enjoys catching up on sports highlights, whether it’s football or tennis, and reading beautifully written pieces by sports journalists. Calling himself a bit “nerdy” about it, the Marvel star seemed fully in the zone—until the conversation took a Swift turn.
The host, Devin Griffin, brought up rumors of Swift possibly performing at the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show. Almost as an aside, he added that she’s apparently a big fan of a sourdough recipe blog. At that moment, Hiddleston raised an eyebrow, tilted his head, and gave a very curious “hmmm,” leaving listeners amused at his reaction.
Karen Gillan quickly jumped in to lighten the moment, explaining that Swift had actually dropped a playful Easter Egg about Sourdough Sam, the mascot of the San Francisco 49ers, during the New Heights podcast.
Hiddleston and Swift’s whirlwind romance in the summer of 2016 made plenty of headlines, though it only lasted a few months. Looking back in a 2017 GQ interview, Hiddleston described Swift as “an amazing woman” who was “generous and kind and lovely,” adding that they “had the best time” together. At the time, he also stressed that their relationship had been very real.
Now, nearly a decade later, the mention of Swift still manages to catch him by surprise.
