Tom Hiddleston has officially confirmed he’s reprising his role as Loki in Avengers: Doomsday, much to the excitement of Marvel fans. The announcement marks the first time Hiddleston’s character will reunite with Chris Hemsworth’s Thor since Avengers: Infinity War, where Loki tragically met his end in the opening scene.
In a recent interview with TikTok star Max Balegde, Hiddleston expressed his relief at finally being able to talk about it, admitting, “It’s really remarkable, actually, that I can talk about it because mostly I’m in a position of knowing and not being able to say anything.” The actor reflected on his journey playing Loki, calling it “an extraordinary chapter” in his career, and teased that it’s far from over. This confirmation comes after his character’s last appearance in the Disney+ series Loki, where he took on the powerful role of the God of Stories. Now, he’s officially returning to the main MCU timeline.
Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be a star-studded affair with numerous Marvel actors making their return. Simu Liu, who made his debut as Shang-Chi in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, also confirmed his appearance in the film. In an interview on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Liu expressed his excitement, saying, “We are so excited to get back to work,” though he also shared how secretive the production is. Liu admitted he had no idea which other actors would be involved until their names were revealed during a livestream event.
In addition to the familiar faces, the film will also feature legendary X-Men stars Sir Ian McKellen and Sir Patrick Stewart, whose returns have left fans buzzing. Liu, who was clearly in awe, referred to them as “two of the greatest actors to ever walk the face of the Earth.”
Although Marvel is keeping the plot of Avengers: Doomsday under wraps, it’s clear that this movie will be a massive event in the MCU, bringing together old and new heroes alike. With big names and even bigger expectations, fans are eagerly awaiting its release next year.
