iOS 18 is bringing some big changes to essential iPhone apps like Messages, Photos, and Maps. However, one of the standout upgrades is to the built-in Calculator app, which has become much more than just a simple calculator.
Previously, the Calculator app only functioned as a basic and scientific calculator. Now, with iOS 18, it can also convert units and currencies. This feature will definitely help when you’re wondering, “Can I really afford to buy these shoes for €100?”
For instance, if you want to find out how much five British pounds is in US dollars, all you need to do is enter the number 5 like you’re doing a math problem. Then, tap the calculator icon at the bottom left of the screen, switch to the Convert option, and select the currency you want. Just like that, you’ll discover that £5 is probably too much for an Iced Matcha Latte from Blank Street Coffee, even if you’re in London!
To convert different units, you just tap on the currency abbreviation, scroll through to find what you need, and do the same for the second number. And you’re all set!
In addition to currency conversions, the Calculator app has added a Math Notes feature (called Maths Notes in the UK). This lets you jot down equations, assign variables, plot graphs, and even sketch diagrams. When you write or type an equals sign, your iPhone will solve the equations for you. So, in iOS 18, the Calculator app is not only a handy currency converter but also a great study buddy for your homework!
