The The White Lotus season three finale has dropped, and fans are still reeling from the shocking deaths that closed out this season. As the dust settles, the excitement around the next installment continues to grow. HBO has already renewed the show for a fourth season, even before the third season concluded, demonstrating their confidence in the Emmy-winning series created by Mike White. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the green light for Season 4 came in January 2025.
While fans are eagerly awaiting updates, there’s still no word on casting or the release date for the next season. Casting director Meredith Tucker revealed that Mike White has yet to begin writing for season four, and no auditions are currently taking place. However, there’s already significant buzz surrounding the next season, with some agents already reaching out in hopes of landing roles.
The destination for season four is still a mystery, but the show’s trend of choosing stunning locations is likely to continue. Season one took place in Hawaii, season two in Sicily, and season three in Thailand. Producer David Bernad shared that Thailand was selected over Japan in part due to its favorable film incentive program, with HBO heavily pushing for the location because of its attractive tax breaks.
Bernad also hinted that the next location will not be cold, joking, “I’d bet USD 100,000 we don’t end up in the cold next,” explaining how much White dislikes colder climates.
Mike White has previously floated the idea of an all-star season featuring returning cast members from earlier seasons. In a 2023 interview, White teased, “If the show goes on for a couple of seasons, it would be fun to have an all-star season.” In an update from 2025, White confirmed he is still open to the idea, saying, “I’d love to do that.”
