Get ready, music fans—The Voice is turning up the charm and star power for its 27th season. The popular singing competition on NBC just revealed that two major music legends, LeAnn Rimes and Sheryl Crow, will be joining the show as Mega Mentors. That means they’ll be helping out the contestants and their coaches during one of the most exciting parts of the competition: the Playoffs.
Here’s how it breaks down:
-
Sheryl Crow will team up with coaches Kelsea Ballerini and Michael Bublé, giving advice and guidance to their team members.
-
LeAnn Rimes will be working with the teams led by John Legend and Adam Levine.
Each coach is bringing five talented singers into the Playoff rounds. After some intense performances, each coach will have to choose just two singers to move on to the Live Shows, where America gets to vote.
Both Rimes and Crow shared their excitement online. Rimes even posted about it on Instagram with a simple, fired-up message: “Let’s go @nbcthevoice.”
Even though they’re new to the U.S. version’s Mega Mentor lineup, both of these music icons have been involved with The Voice before. Rimes has coached on the UK and Australian versions of the show—she even won Season 13 of The Voice Australia last year. Crow has also mentored on the U.S. show in the past and has performed on the stage several times. Her mix of country, rock, and pop makes her a perfect fit for the role.
Over the years, The Voice has brought in some big names as Mega Mentors, including Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, Reba McEntire, and Jennifer Hudson. So Rimes and Crow are in some seriously good company.
Season 27 also brings back Adam Levine, a fan favorite, who’s returning to the coaching panel after a five-year break. Earlier in the season, each coach picked a special advisor to help their team during the battle rounds.
Here’s who they chose:
-
Michael Bublé teamed up with Broadway star Cynthia Erivo
-
John Legend brought in R&B singer and actress Coco Jones
-
Kelsea Ballerini worked with the country group Little Big Town
-
Adam Levine brought on his old friend and fellow high school classmate, Kate Hudson
In the previous season, the Mega Mentor roles were filled by powerhouse performers Jennifer Hudson (who worked with Bublé and Reba McEntire) and Sting (who advised teams for Snoop Dogg and Gwen Stefani).
