In Episode 6 of The Shiunji Family Children, titled ‘Now’s the Time,’ things take an emotional turn—especially for Minami. After a casual moment where she sees Arata fresh from a jog, she starts acting a little strange, though she plays it cool. Later, Arata even gets bitten by his Doberman (which seems random but adds to the chaos of his day).
Meanwhile at school, Minami throws herself into tennis training for the Inter-high tournament. Everyone’s impressed by her dedication. But things get serious when she overhears that her captain, Nao, might have to quit if she doesn’t win a scholarship—something that drives Minami to push herself even harder, even while hiding a painful injury. Arata notices she’s not okay, supports her quietly, and thanks to her grit, Minami helps her team win the semi-final.
Then—she vanishes.
When the finals roll around, the family is shocked to realize Minami is missing. Seiha can’t find her anywhere, and the situation sets up a mystery heading into the next episode.
Episode 7, titled ‘Surely,’ will pick up with Minami suddenly returning home, acting like everything’s fine. She casually mentions that she skipped the finals, then locks herself in her room. Arata, though worried, decides not to push her for answers.
But not everyone buys her act.
Shion later tells Arata that she actually saw Minami earlier that morning—and her mood back then didn’t match the cheerful front she’s putting on now. This contradiction hints that something deeper is going on with Minami—likely emotional fallout from the pressure she’s been under or the guilt of letting her team down.
The episode will also reveal the final result of the Inter-high tournament, showing how Minami’s absence changed everything for the team and for Nao’s future.
