The royal blue carpet at the Met Gala 2025 was one of the event’s most eye-catching features. The blue color, decorated with white and yellow flowers, stood out and grabbed attention worldwide.

But it wasn’t just a regular carpet—it had a special meaning and a connection to India. The floral carpet was made by Nyett, a brand from Alleppey in Kerala.

Artist Cy Gavin explained to Vogue why the flowers on the carpet were important. The flowers were daffodils, which represent the start of a new season. Gavin said he was fascinated by how the daffodil sees its reflection in water for the first time. He said this moment of recognizing and appreciating oneself was powerful, especially since people often don’t see themselves clearly because of what others tell them about who they are.

Jodie Turner-Smith walked on this beautiful carpet during the event.

Nyett, the brand that created the carpet, told HT Lifestyle that the daffodil designs were hand-painted. They said the Met Gala team actually designed the floral pattern, and Nyett only provided the plain white rug as a base.

The blue carpet symbolized royalty and matched perfectly with the starry night theme of the Met Gala. Although the carpet will be taken away after the event, it will live on in the many photos taken that night.
